“Overall a great Agricole as most of the rum from this brand which is one of my favorite brands. The 8yo is aged in ex-Bourbon American oak barrels before being reduced to 42% and bottled. The Carrere/Montebello 8yo at 42% has been released as several vintages, from 1997-2003 they released single vintages with the vintage written on the back label from 2001. Thereafter is bottling year stamped at the front label or just below the cork. Therefore I believe that these latter releases are blended editions/batches bottled the year stamped. Right now I have bottles of vintage 1997, 1998 and 2001 together with editions from 2016, 2020, 2021 and 2022. This review is about the 2021 version. The nose is rich, complex, pleasant, vegetal, floral, fruity and woody. In mouth and on the palate I recognize sweet cane, spices, raisins and fruits. During the rather long finish it’s very rich and I recognize hints of licorice, prunes and banana besides what I recognized on the palate.”
